Sign up for Ride for Rights!

Do you want to go beyond your limits and cycle 400 km in 24 hours across the Netherlands to bring national awareness to human rights and to those protecting them?

Then join Ride for Rights, a cycle challenge in support of human rights and human rights defenders. From Saturday, 18th May to Sunday, 19th May, cyclists will take part in a 24-hour challenge starting from the city of Peace and Justice, The Hague. The route will take cyclists from The Hague, to Tilburg, Nijmegen, Deventer, Utrecht, Haarlem, and finish back in The Hague 24 hours later.

Why cycle for human rights and those that defend them?

Every day, people around the world are standing up for human rights and against human rights violations. While in the Netherlands, defending human rights is often without consequence, in many places, this can be a dangerous fight.

If human rights defenders are being threatened because of the work they do, they qualify for a three month stay in the Dutch Shelter City Initiative, powered by Hague-based human rights NGO, Justice and Peace Netherlands. Through this initiative, human rights defenders can escape a potentially threatening situation for a short period, catch their breath, expand their network, and receive vital security training so that they can go back and continue their work safely and effectively.

Through Ride for Rights, we want to raise as much as we can to train and empower more people defending human rights. By training and empowering one individual here in the Netherlands, we protect others, such as their colleagues, defending human rights and empower whole communities to realise their rights.

Show the world that you stand with Human Rights!

You will have the option to choose the Human Right that matters most to you, your community or company that you would like to cycle for and bring national attention to. We will print it on the back of your cycling gear to promote your cause you cycle for and represent our diverse cyclists.

Examples: I #ride4freedom, I #ride4equality.
