Arts and Human Rights Exhibition organized by Shelter City Dar es Salaam
Since December 2018, there is a group of 16 HRDs taking part in the Shelter City programme in Dar es Salaam. There are a number of artists part of this group who worked together with the Africa Human Rights Network (AHRN) on an exhibition about Arts and Human Rights.
The exhibition was opened at Ramada Encore on the 21st of February. The exhibition was visited by people from civil society organisations, artists platforms, representatives of embassies (such as the Dutch ambassador), international organisations and government officials.
The (AHRN) is coordinating the Shelter City progamme in international Shelter City hub Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The AHRN is relocating HRDs from the Great Lakes Region who are in immediate life-risking danger. Together with the support of the AHRN, the relocated HRDs are able to continue their activities while abroad, work with NGOs in the region, attend NGO´s for a and Ordinary Sessions organized by the African Commission on Human Rights and submit recommendations on their working conditions through the Mechanism of the Special Rapporteur on HRDs in Africa. Furthermore, they are being assisted in project development and strategies to continue activities in their respective home countries.
